Why is the Mucuna not working!!!!

Updated: Apr 6, 2024

Take heart. It will if you have a dopamine deficiency. FACT.

You are unique and need to work with your body to find the correct MacuDopa dose. Factors like your gut microbiome, vitamin D levels and COQ10 levels all play a role in how well you respond to the Mucuna pruriens in MacuDopa. Be patient and brave and open to experimenting and learning. The benefits are huge.

Consider adjusting the dose:

What you may need to do is adjust the dose until you find the correct amount of plant L-DOPA to control your physical symptoms.

If you are new to taking medicine (ie: you are newly diagnosed and are not on any L-DOPA medication) you may need to take a LARGER amount of MacuDopa for the first three weeks or so.

We call this the loading dose:

Some clients use 2 or even 3 capsules of MacuDopa Day every 2 hours for a few weeks. They then reduce the amount, making sure that their PD symptoms are fully supported. If you experience nausea (a sign that you have too much L-DOPA in your body) reduce the amount or spread it out more. For example - instead of taking 2 every 2 hours, take one every hour.

Be patient, brave and open to experimenting and learning. The benefits are huge.

Top up with the right amount

If you are using MacuDopa as a top up between normal GP prescribed medication (Madopar, Sinimet etc) then make sure you take enough and take it BEFORE you start to come 'off'. Check out the 'How to take MacuDopa' page on our site and read about the Continuum method.

Check out the 'How to take MacuDopa' page:

If you have spoken to your neurologist and want to substitute MacuDopa for your prescribed meds then make sure you take enough to get symptom relief. It is not good using one MacuDopa day capsule with 100mg plant L-DOPA if you are on a dose of 200mg of pharmaceutical L-DOPA. Match the amounts. And once again check out the 'How to take MacuDopa' page on our site and read about the Continuum method. Learn how to stay 'on'.

Contact our functional medicine specialist:

Max, our naturopathic functional medicine specialist is also really happy to do a call with you to help you understand how to take MacuDopa. max@macudopa.com

It is also worth noting that the L-DOPA in MacuDopa seems to act more gently than the pharmaceutical version. You won't feel a massive hit as it starts to work and experience awful dyskinesia. This may take some getting used to. We want you to feel normal, balanced and physically able, not high as a kite.

Be patient with our natural product. Be brave and be open to experimenting carefully with the dose and frequency of dosing. More and more GP's and neurologists are happy to talk about Mucuna so don't be scared to ask for help.
